If you want to know more about the
book, feel free to download the Preface at no charge. It will
explain more about the book's purpose, the intended audience,
and a little about my motivation for writing it. It also explains
what you should already know before starting this book plus what
it won't teach you! It also includes information about Authorware,
simulation and games, the "project approach," and details
about the book's format. It ends with a little story describing
the history of Authorware. (It also includes the book's table
of contents.)
This is also an excellent way to familiarize yourself with Acrobat
Reader (also available at no cost from Adobe). If you are able
to successfully download and print the preface, then you will
have no difficulty in downloading the other chapters.
1. Install Acrobat Reader. The preface (as are all of the book's chapters)
is in the Portable Document Format (PDF) and can only be viewed
and printed with Acrobat Reader. This application is available
for most platforms and is free of charge from Adobe Systems, Inc.
to get a free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader from Adobe's web site.)
2. After Acrobat Reader is installed,
click below to download the preface. Note:
You can download the preface without installing Acrobat Reader,
but you won't be able to view or print the file.
3. Launch Acrobat Reader (if your web browser hasn't already launched
it for you -- consider making Acrobat Reader a 'helper application'
if you use one of Netscape's browsers).
4. Print the chapter. (Although you can view the preface's
pages on the screen, most of the graphics will only be legible
when printed.)
